British Citizenship is a form of British nationality which has attached to it an automatic right to live and work in the United Kingdom. You can apply for British Citizenship if you are over 18, have Indefinite Leave to Remain (which you have held for 1 year) and have been living in the United Kingdom for the last five years (or 3 years if you are married to or a civil partner of a British citizen). You will also need to demonstrate that you have sufficient knowledge of life in the United Kingdom and that you can communicate in English, Welsh, or Scottish Gaelic to the required standard.
There are separate rules in relation to children and we can discuss these with you. Applicants (over 10 years old) will also need to meet the good character requirement as well as other qualifying criteria. The Home Office have a degree of discretion in these applications; we will discuss these with you in relation to your particular circumstances.
