Right to Manage - Tenants’ right to take over the management of their building.

May 2019

The Right to Manage allows long leaseholders the ability to take over the management of their property by setting up a Right To Manage company (RTM company).  Such a company enables tenants to take over the management of their building  provided they comply with certain statutory requirements.   Courtyard Solicitors can help you through the Right To Manage process.

For example, as a leaseholder you may be keen to influence  which insurance companies you use, or who the managing agent is. To begin the work to set up an RTM company broadly speaking you first need the support of at least 50 percent of the leaseholders. Ideally, you will also have identified one, or preferably two, people that will be willing to be directors of the new RTM company.

Should you wish to proceed Courtyard Solicitors can help you plan a successful strategy.
